Ultra-broadband and compact beamsplitters using subwavelength-grating-assisted zero gap directional couplers

چکیده :
We demonstrate broadband and compact beam splitters, on the silicon-on-insulator platform, using subwavelength grating-based zero-gap directional couplers with various power splitting ratios including 20%/80%, 30%/70%, 40%/60% and for transverse electric (TE) mode. All of These devices exhibit bandwidths in excess of 400 nm maintaining insertion loss and power imbalance below 1dB and footprint of smaller than14um*14um
