Synergizing ISAC and OTFS in a Non-GB-OMA Downlink Framework

Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) enhances high-mobility wireless communication by modulating information in the delay-Doppler (DD) domain, with strong potential for radar sensing. This paper employs a different non-guard band orthogonal multiple-access (non-GB-OMA) method along with integrating sensing and communication (ISAC) approach to enhance downlink communication in a vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) scenario. Using a 2D correlation method, radar sensing determines the number of user terminals (UTs) in the coverage area. An interleaved technique reduces multi-user interference (MUI) by allocating non-overlapping DD domain resources to individual UTs without utilizing guard bands (GBs). A zero-padding (ZP) scheme effectively manages multi-user interference (MUI) and simplifies data detection. Furthermore, the subspace pursuit (SP) method, distinctive pilot patterns, a well-defined data frame structure, and an external phase matrix are utilized to ensure precise channel estimation. In addition to accurate channel estimation, these strategies reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and alleviate MUI, enhancing system performance. A two-stage feedback-oriented approach illustrates the flexibility of the single-tap equalizer and block linear-minimum mean square error (BL-MMSE) detectors within our framework. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.
