چکیده :
Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) can generate robust links in millimeter wave (mmWave) communications by creating advantageous multipath. To represent small-scale fading in mmWave frequency, we apply the recently proposed Independent Fluctuating Two-Ray (IFTR) channel model and use its statistical representation as a countable mixture of Gamma distributions. First, we obtain accurate end-to-end formulas for the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in RIS-based systems using the IFTR fading model. We then evaluate key performance metrics, such as average bit error probability and outage probability, to assess the effectiveness of the system. The effect of channel and system parameters on the performance metrics is explored using Monte Carlo simulations to provide useful insights.
