Holographic Principle Inspired Metal-Only Spoof Surface Plasmon Polariton Leaky-wave Antenna with Circular Polarization

چکیده :
A metal-only circularly polarized spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) based on holographic principle is proposed and investigated in this study. The proposed antenna consists of a hologram plane and surface wave launchers. The hologram plane includes hollow cross-bars unit-cell with three degree of design freedom (the two arms of the bar lengths and the rotation angle of them). The anisotropic hologram plane is realized based on the strategy of combining transformation optics (TO) relations and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. In contrast to conventional launchers, we used a stripline waveguide to excite the TM-mode surface wave, which provides significant impedance bandwidth (8-20GHz). The aperture's size of the proposed LWA is 9.5λₒ× 2.1λₒ, and the simulation results show that the SSPP LWA has an axial-ratio bandwidth of 19-20GHz. Also, realized gain, radiation efficiency, scanning angle, and sidelobe level of the proposed SSPP LWA at design frequency of 19 GHz were found about 15.7 dBi, 86%, 13º, and −11 dB, respectively. MATLAB and CST Microwave Studio software have been used in the design process.
