چکیده :
Abstract—A high level of bilirubin concentration in newborn blood is one the most important screening programs in the early days after birth. This can lead to jaundice if it doesn’t diagnosed at the beginning stages. Spectrophotometric devices are one of the most basic methods for analyzing bilirubin concentration. On the other hand, this method is roughly complex and time-consuming. Biosensors are usable for quick detection. Optical biosensors are used for the detection of blood parameters and biological liquids. In this work, the bilirubin of blood is evaluated. Optic waves detect pathogenic factors like bilirubin. At first, the effective wavelength for bilirubin detection was determined at 470 nm. Also, the fabrication possibility of the proposed bilirubin sensor is investigated. Then, the refractive index of blood for bilirubin concentration in 0.1, 1.85, 3.6, 5.35, and 7.1 is obtained. The proposed system can detect bilirubin up to a concentration of 7 mg/dL. Finally, the proposed design and its results are simulated by COMSOL multiphysics software to evaluate the proposed sensor performance. In this way, users can measure bilirubin without any complex spectrophotometric equipment. Furthermore, this sensor can be inserted into other medical devices to enhance accuracy.
