An LMI-based Robust Fuzzy Controller for Blood Glucose Regulation in Type 1 Diabetes

چکیده :
This paper deals with designing a control algorithm to develop an artificial pancreas to treat diabetes type 1. Considering input saturation limitation in controller design procedure leads to a more realistic and practical control algorithm. The parallel distributed compensation concept and Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy model are employed to design an optimal robust fuzzy controller. Stabilization conditions based on Lyapunov method are derived in terms of linear matrix inequality and the controller's gain is optimally selected from the solution set that satisfy the controller stability conditions such that the effect of disturbance on the output signals becomes minimized. To describe the glucose-inulin process in type 1 diabetes patients, the minimal Bergman and Tolic models are considered, and their equivalent Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models are derived based on the sector nonlinearity approach. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
