Wideband Rat-race Hybrid Coupler Using Ridge Gap Waveguide Technology

چکیده :
Ridge gap waveguide technology is an advanced solution in millimeter-wave and submillimeter-wave applications, including 5G communications and other emerging future communication systems. This innovative technology provides a low-loss, easily fabricable approach for microwave components, enabling the creation of multilayer structures without the need for electrical connections between metallic layers. For high frequencies, RGW supports quasi-TEM wave propagation in air, reducing conduction and dielectric losses. This paper presents the design based on even-odd mode analysis and simulation of a three-section rat-race hybrid coupler using RGW, operating within 8.5-12.5 GHz. The coupler achieves a stable 3.5 dB coupling coefficient, over 10 dB isolation, and a 38.1% fractional bandwidth, with magnitude imbalances of 0:5 dB and a phase imbalance bandwidth (18010) of 37%. These results confirm RGW’s effectiveness for broadband, high-frequency applications.
