چکیده :
This paper introduces a novel approach combining the Intermediate Observer (IO) with a watermarking technique to effectively isolate simultaneous sensor faults and cyber-attacks in a class of nonlinear systems, considering bounded disturbances and plant uncertainties. Unlike existing methods, this approach is designed without imposing strict conditions on the Cyber-Physical System (CPS), to enhance its practical applicability. The proposed solution utilizes dual IOs and residual analysis to separate and detect abnormal behaviors, providing mitigation of cyber-attacks and sensor faults within the control and command pathways of the CPS. It isolates stealthy (e.g., replay attacks) as well as non-stealthy cyber intrusions, even when the effects mirror sensor faults. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated through a case study involving a spherical tank level sensor used in oil custody transfer operations, highlighting its potential for real-world applications.
