چکیده :
Fano semiconductor lasers are promoting very fast because of the narrow linewidth property. One of the simplest methods to produce a picosecond single optical pulse is gain switching which is gained by applying a short electrical current pulse. In this paper, we have numerically investigated the effect of short input current pulses, with different widths and values, on a semiconductor Fano laser, to attain the maximum output power and minimum pulse width. we developed a finite difference Runge Kutta code to solve the rate equations. Self-pulsing limited the maximum input current in the through port. Moreover, the Crossport pulse energy showed the maximum input current pulse. The minimum pulse width via the through port and cross port was 4.2ps with a maximum power of 0.016W, and 9.36ps with a maximum power of 0.012W, respectively.
