چکیده :
Vibration in high-voltage circuit breakers is a critical parameter, as significant forces and speeds are required to disconnect the contacts, which aids in arc quenching. Any alterations in the disconnecting chamber or breaker mechanism lead to changes in the vibration patterns, making it a valuable indicator for detecting potential issues. By monitoring this vibration, key data can be collected to identify faulty contacts, switches, or to predict potential performance failures in the circuit breaker. This paper presents the use of an accelerometer sensor to measure the vibration of a medium-voltage circuit breaker. A microcontroller is employed to store the sensor’s output for future analysis, and electric circuits are implemented to convert the sensor signal into a suitable voltage for the analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The collected vibration data is then processed using Fourier transform techniques. Comparative analysis of the vibration data from two medium-voltage circuit breakers—one in optimal condition and the other with a minor defect—demonstrates how the technique can effectively detect faults in the circuit breaker by analyzing distinct differences in their vibration profiles.
