چکیده :
This paper analyzes two flux reversal permanent magnet (FRPM) motors. The main motor, an improved FRPM (I-FRPM), has an auxiliary set of PMs in its structure to improve the torque and power characteristics. Both the conventional FRPM and IFRPM are tested under no-load and full-load conditions. In terms of the air-gap flux density and its harmonic spectrum, the IFRPM outperforms the FRPM architecture. With higher air-gap flux density, accordingly, the I-FRPM motor produces a higher torque and lower torque ripple compared to its original counterpart. Using finite element analysis (FEA), the electromagnetic performances of both motors are carried out and compared under fair conditions. It is shown that the proposed structure is capable of producing higher torque per PM volume with lower core losses and torque ripple percent.
