Energy Efficiency of UAV-based mmWave-mMIMO Systems Using Low-Precision ADCs

چکیده :
Abstract—In this paper, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based wireless network with massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) architecture is considered. Furthermore, by assuming high-frequency bands-aided communication links, known as millimeter-wave (mmWave) transmission, and applying the zero-forcing (ZF) detection method at the UAV_BS, we attempt to analyze the uplink (UL) spectral and energy efficiency (SE/EE) of the studied system. Due to the importance of power consumption in EE analysis, the UAV is equipped with low-bit analog to digital converters (ADCs) to decrease power consumption levels and boost the system’s performance regarding energy. We obtain a closed-form approximation for uplink SE and attempt to evaluate the system’s performance in terms of the number of quantization bits, UAV’s placement, and each user’s transmit power.
