چکیده :
With the increasing penetration of Renewable Energy Sources, power system dynamic behavior depends on the weather and climate changes, which causes uncertainty and stochasticity and reduces the power system's total inertia, consequently deteriorating the stability. Thus, a fast and accurate technique for real-time estimation of inertia is required. It allows the operator to monitor the system immediately and make an appropriate decision. This paper proposes an online inertia estimation method based on the swing equation for a multi-area interconnected power system using the Phasor Measurement Units. This method for extracting electromechanical oscillation parameters utilizes a novel signal processing approach called short-time Fourier-based synchro squeezing. The proposed approach's efficiency is validated through time-domain simulations on two test case systems, including the New-England IEEE 39-Bus system and the two-area four-generator test power system. The numerical results demonstrate the potential and precision of the proposed approach in estimating inertia and confirming the modeling assumptions
