An Iterative Approach to Enhance the Accuracy of TDOA-Based Localization by Averaging and Reducing Noise

چکیده :
The Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) algorithm has become a popular localization method that offers promising results for passive scenarios. However, this algorithm may be significantly affected by noise, leading to high errors in estimating the position of the signal source; Nevertheless, a cumulative approach can help minimize its impact. In this study, we apply this idea to improve estimation accuracy. We have introduced an approach based on iterations of Chan's method. Also, the research thoroughly investigated and compared different TDOA methods, such as hyperbolic intersection, least squares (LS), and especially Chan. Through computer simulations, we found that this approach provides higher accuracy than other methods. After m iterations, the proposed method reduces Chan's estimation error by the square root factor of m.
