Tunable Integrated Terahertz Sources based on Hybrid Plasmonic Structures

چکیده :
This paper presents a compact, integrated terahertz source based on difference frequency generation (DFG) in a hybrid plasmonic waveguide combining a GaP rib optical waveguide with dual graphene layers. The hybrid mode yields subwavelength terahertz confinement, enhanced optical–THz modal overlap, and reduced propagation loss, which make this structure promising for on-chip THz generation. The tuning of the chemical potentials of graphene enables dynamic phase matching and continuous frequency tuning in the 2–4 THz band without modifying the device geometry.
