چکیده :
The five-leg inverter represents an emerging topology in power electronic converters that enables the independent control of two electric machines while sharing common switching devices. This configuration provides a significant reduction in the number of semiconductor components and overall system cost, making it particularly attractive for compact and energy-efficient electric drive systems. In this work, a sensorless Direct Torque Control (DTC) strategy is applied to dual induction motors in order to fully exploit the benefits of the five-leg inverter. The adoption of a sensorless approach eliminates the need for mechanical sensors, which not only reduces the hardware complexity but also enhances the reliability of the overall system, especially in harsh operating conditions typically encountered in electric vehicle (EV) applications. The proposed control scheme is modeled and validated through detailed simulations carried out in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. The obtained results confirm the capability of the five-leg inverter to deliver accurate torque and flux regulation for both machines, while maintaining stable and efficient operation under various load conditions. These findings highlight the potential of the suggested structure as a cost-effective and reliable solution for next-generation EV drive systems. Finally, conclusions are drawn, and recommendations for future research directions are presented, including the extension of this work to experimental validation and optimization for real-time implementation.
