Design, Simulation, and fabrication of a compact dual-band GNSS antenna

چکیده :
This paper presents the complete process of designing, simulating, and fabricating a dual-band, printed, right-hand circularly polarized GNSS antenna. The antenna is specifically designed to cover the GPS and GLONASS (L1, L2) bands, which require bandwidths of 3.16% (1.215-1.254 GHz) for L1 and 2.97% (1.563-1.610 GHz) for L2. Remarkably, our antenna exceeds these requirements with wider bandwidths of 3.23% (1.2235-1.2637 GHz) for L1 and 4.72% (1.5606-1.6361 GHz) for L2, as verified through measurement and simulation. Antenna achieves (1.2108-1.2467 GHz) for L1 and (1.5608-1.5919 GHz) for L2, as verified through fabrication. Extensive simulations demonstrate that our GNSS antenna, measuring on an FR-4 substrate, achieves an impressive value below -10 dB. Moreover, the antenna exhibits a directivity of 4.35 at 1.21125 GHz and 5.51 at 1.57875 GHz. The axial ratio reaches 2.7804 dB at 1.2419 GHz and 2.3934 dB at 0.5788 GHz. Due to its cost-effectiveness, this antenna structure is suitable for mass production.
