Enhancing the Performance of Piezoelectric Sensors Using RTV2 Elastomer Coatings

چکیده :
This study investigates the enhancement of piezoelectric sensor performance through silicone elastomer-based coating techniques. Piezoelectric sensors, known for their high sensitivity and reliability, are extensively used in various applications, including structural health monitoring and medical diagnostics. However, their fragility poses a challenge for consistent performance under stress. To address this, we developed a coating process using RTV2 silicone elastomer, improving the sensor's durability and sensitivity. Experimental testing was conducted using a custom-built device to measure acceleration under controlled conditions. Pre- and post-coating performance data were collected and analyzed, revealing a significant increase in sensitivity with mean output values rising from 3.1 to 10.1 after coating. These findings demonstrate the potential of silicone elastomer coatings to enhance piezoelectric sensor functionality for advanced sensing applications.
