Multiphysics Analysis of HTS Transformer utilizing Stainless Steel Stabilizer on Short Circuit Condition

چکیده :
Using the second-generation High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) windings instead of the conventional windings can provide significant advantages. Nevertheless, one of the HTS transformers' problems is their vulnerability against the long-time short circuit current. In this paper, the stainless steel is applied as a stabilizer in the HTS transformer windings. This approach has many advantages, such as increasing superconductor tolerance on short circuit current conditions, high mechanical strength, less cooling power, and superconductor fault current limiting (SFCL). For modeling the superconductor, all its states: superconducting, flux flow, and normal states have been considered. At first, the transformer has been designed. Then transient and Multiphysics analyses are studied. Besides, the results derived from the HTS transformer will be compared with the conventional transformer.
