Dynamic Wide Area Situational Awareness: Practical Experience

چکیده :
As modern power networks become increasingly complex, the need for effective real-time monitoring systems has become crucial for enhancing decision-making in power system control centers. This paper addresses these challenges by demonstrating the real-time application and operational experience of a Dynamic Wide Area Situational Awareness (D-WASA) system in the Iranian power grid. Through a detailed analysis of two practical incidents that caused inter-area oscillations in Iran’s network, we show the tangible benefits of the D-WASA system. These case studies highlight its effectiveness in providing dispatchers with enhanced Situational Awareness (SA), leading to increased resiliency of the power system. The broader implications of our findings suggest that similar systems could be implemented in power network control centers worldwide, enhancing resilience and operational efficiency globally. By sharing our insights, we aim to contribute to the advancement of power system management in the face of emerging challenges.
