Monitoring of Respiration Rate and Heart Rate Using a FMCW Millimeter Wave Radar

چکیده :
This paper investigates the presentation of a suitable radar algorithm for the non-contact extraction of respiration rate and heart rate using real data. The proposed algorithms for determining respiration rate and heart rate include a bandpass filter-based algorithm and an algorithm based on Successive Variational Mode Decomposition (SVMD). To evaluate the performance of these algorithms, we utilized real data collected from 50 healthy children under 13 years old using a millimeter wave Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system. The innovation of this work lies in the use of adaptive frequency bands derived from medical reference tables to enhance the accuracy of respiration rate and heart rate estimation. The results indicate that the best outcomes are achieved using the SVMD-based method with an adaptive frequency band, yielding mean relative errors of 12.63% and 7.83% for respiration rate and heart rate estimation, respectively.
