چکیده :
Thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) modulators, which offer low driving voltage and high performance, play a crucial role in advanced optical communication systems. Microwave loss is a key limiting factor for the high-frequency operation of lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) modulators. In conventional coplanar waveguide (CPW) modulators, microwave loss can be reduced at the cost of impedance mismatch or by increasing the voltage-length product (Vπ · L). We propose using a coaxial transmission line (TL) for TFLN modulators, which reduces microwave loss while maintaining impedance matching and achieving an optimal Vπ · L. This approach simultaneously provides high electro-optic (EO) bandwidth and low drive voltage (Vπ). With the proposed design, we achieved a low drive voltage of Vπ = 1 V and a 3-dB EO bandwidth of 95 GHz, resulting in a voltage-bandwidth limit (BW/Vπ) of 95, demonstrating superior performance compared to its conventional modulators.
