Simultaneous WTA–LTA Circuit with High Input Dynamic Range, Low Power Consumption, and Minimal Maximum Error

چکیده :
Winner-Take-All (WTA) and Looser-Take-All (LTA) circuits are widely used in parallel signal processing to obtain the maximum and minimum of multiple input signals. In this paper, a current-input WTA–LTA circuit is proposed that simultaneously detects both the maximum and minimum input currents and presents them at the outputs. Simultaneous detection of the maximum and minimum significantly reduces the current consumption in each cell. The proposed WTA–LTA circuit has been post-layout simulated in a 180 nm technology at a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The power consumption per cell is 12 µW, and the maximum error over a 120 µA input range is 0.82% and 0.59% for the WTA and LTA, respectively.
