Realization of a high-resolution plasmonic refractive index sensor based on double-nanodisk shaped resonators

چکیده :
In this paper, a hybrid plasmonic-photonic crystal (P-PhC) structure is designed. in which four metal rods are embedded in the resonant cavity of rod-type Si PhC structure. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to evaluate the properties of the proposed hybrid structure. The obtained results show that by the cooperative coupling between the surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) induced by the metal rods and resonant PhC cavity modes, a hybrid P-PhC mode is created. The hybrid mode is strongly confined within the cavity. The simulation results demonstrate that the Q factor of the proposed structure is about 3.6 times larger than that of the pure PhC structure. Such hybrid structure is suitable for structures where the field must be strongly confined within the active medium of the cavity such as nanolaser or light-emitting devices and nano-sensing devices.
