Optimization of Tabriz Airport Energy Supply Using Distributed Generation: Wind Turbines, Photovoltaic Panels, and Diesel Generators

چکیده :
Airports are among the largest and most consistent consumers of electrical energy, operating continuously throughout the year. This study evaluates the technical and economic feasibility of supplying Tabriz Airport’s electrical load through distributed generation (DG) systems. The proposed DG systems include wind turbines, photovoltaic (PV) panels, and diesel generators, modeled and optimized using HOMER software. The design assumes off-grid operation, integrating renewable and conventional energy sources. Sensitivity analyses on fuel prices and inflation rates were conducted to assess their impact on system performance and cost efficiency. Results indicate that a hybrid configuration combining diesel generators and renewable energy sources offers the optimal balance between operational cost and environmental impact under varying economic scenarios. Furthermore, recommendations for implementing the designed system and enhancing the sustainability of airport energy infrastructure are discussed.
