Selecting the Economical Energy Storage System for Photovoltaic Power Plants

چکیده :
Due to the inherently uncontrollable nature of renewable systems, increasing their installed capacity brings new challenges in power systems. Using the electrical storage system is a good solution to solve these problems. There are various storage technologies; for selecting appropriate storage for a PV system, it is necessary to evaluate its economic feasibility. For this purpose, this paper introduces a modified criteria that calculates the Levelized cost of energy for a hybrid system consisting of storage and PV parts. We studied three factors that affect the hybrid system’s performance using this index. These factors are the photovoltaic system's rated power, the storage system's penetration level, and the daily sunny hours. The results of our study indicate that using li-ion and PbA batteries for small-scale PV systems is economically justifiable, and NiCd is the best storage technology for large-scale PV systems.
