چکیده :
This paper presents a both energy and area efficient DAC switching scheme for capacitive digital-to-analog converters (CDAC) in successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). This scheme utilizes both binary-weighted and charge averaging methods of switching which redistributes charge between symmetrically structured capacitor subsets to minimize the switching energy and the occupied silicon area. The proposed switching scheme enhances the efficiency of the switching energy by 96.97% including reset energy and achieves a 96.88% reduction in the total capacitor area utilizing a medium logic complexity compared to conventional SAR ADC with no sensitivity to mid-level reference voltage Vcm.
