Improving the Performance of Unified Power Quality Conditioner Using Interval Type 2 Fuzzy Control

چکیده :
One of the most prevalent problems in today's world in power distribution is the development of power systems and improvement of power quality. The unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) is a merge of series and shunt active power filters (APF) joined via a dc bus which is responsible of compensating voltage imbalance and current harmonics. The UPQC shunt active filter serves as a special current source, injecting compensating current through a shunt transformer, while the series active filter serves as a voltage source, providing compensatory voltage through a series transformer. In this Article, two different control strategies are developed and implemented for improving imbalance voltage and power quality. The first control strategy was implemented using the fuzzy logic control and the second control strategy using proportional integral control. Finally, we compare the performance of simulation results in MATLAB software of the proposed fuzzy logic controller with the conventional proportional integral controller.
