چکیده :
Integrating Distributed Generation (DG) source into medium voltage level power systems leads to fundamental changes in the conventional network configurations. It changes short circuit current (SCC) level rating, and in some cases, much more severe switching transients may be produced. Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) can exceed its standard limits in some fault conditions, which results in Circuit Breaker (CB) failure. Therefore, it is essential, to investigate these parameters of CB in every change of the power networks. In this paper, we first consider different characteristics of wind turbine generators structure i.e., dynamics and its controls. Then, by the modeling was performed in PSCAD/EMTDC, the effect of integration of a wind DG source with different generator structures on three CB transient parameters, including SCC level, maximum of TRV and Rate of Rise of Recovery Voltage (RRRV) is investigated. The results have been compared to the standard values. No transgress from standard values was observed, and older CB are still usable. With the integration of the wind source as a DG unit, the fault current increased, and TRV and RRRV decreased. No aggression was seen on either network.
