Low VHF Wire Antenna with Low-cost and Wideband Properties

چکیده :
We propose a portable, low-cost, and wideband antenna includes two sections of its radiator and a matching network, all connected in series in that order. The optimized radiator height is 162cm which is connected to a matching network by means of implemented 80cm high impedance coaxial transmission line lied along the axis of the radiator. With the help of the first simulation results of such a structure without any matching network, it is found that an omnidirectional radiation pattern can be obtained within a given frequencies of low VHF. For broadening its operating bandwidth and practically implementation of such an antenna, a wide-band balun and matching network are designed and then located in the base section of the structure. To validate the simulated results, the designed structure for low VHF (30~108MHz) is fabricated and successfully measured. The measurements on such an antenna show a 115% bandwidth with VSWR<2.6 and maximum gain 1.7dBi at 90MHz. It is shown that the fabricated antenna has a simple design and short radiator height in comparison with the commercial antennas used for low VHF applications. In addition to, such a low-weight antenna is suitable for installation in vehicles
