Robust Reset Unknown Input Observer for Simultaneous State and Actuator Fault Estimation in Uncertain Systems Subject to Input-Output Disturbances

چکیده :
This paper introduces a novel observer synthesis, known as the Reset Unknown Input Observer (RUIO), that simultaneously estimates system states and actuator faults in systems subject to uncertainties, input, and output disturbances. Unlike conventional methods, the proposed RUIO incorporates a resetting mechanism governed by an optimal H∞ performance index, which significantly reduces the L2 norm of the estimation error and improves the convergence rate, thereby yielding an enhanced transient response in comparison to the standard Conventional Unknown Input Observer (CUIO). The robust stability of the estimation error is guaranteed through sufficient conditions expressed as Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) that account for model uncertainties and disturbances. The effectiveness of this approach is validated via simulation on a well-mixed Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR).
