Fabrication of reduced graphene oxide/Chitosan for detection of Amlodipine by Surface Plasmon Resonance

چکیده :
Accurate detection of amlodipine is essential because improper dosage can cause severe adverse effects such as blood pressure fluctuations, heart rhythm changes, and drug–drug interactions. This work presents a highly sensitive surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor based on a reduced graphene oxide–chitosan (rGOCS) nanocomposite thin film. The CS layer was used to modify the gold surface, resulting in a 0.75° shift in resonance angle compared with the bare gold chip. Electromagnetic performance was validated using the finite-difference time-domain method and effective medium theory. The optimized CS SPR sensor exhibited a sensitivity of 170.65°·µM⁻¹, a linear response range of 0.02–120 µM, and a limit of detection of 20 nM. The sensor was further applied for amlodipine detection in commercial tablets and urine samples, and the results were consistent with standard HPLC measurements. These findings confirm that the rGOCS/Au platform is a promising candidate for practical biomedical sensing.
