Graphene-Based Slot Antenna with Improved Bandwidth for 6G Terahertz Communications

چکیده :
This paper presents the design and simulation of a graphene-based slot antenna operating from 0.485 to 0.560 THz, targeting 6G wireless applications. The antenna achieves a fractional bandwidth of 14.3% and a peak gain of 2.64 dBi at 0.535 THz. The structure employs graphene as a surface-impedance layer modeled using the Kubo formalism, with its material parameters tuned via the chemical potential (μc). The enhanced performance of the proposed antenna arises from the combined effects of graphene integration and the dumbbell-shaped slot configuration. The plasmonic behavior of graphene, in conjunction with its capability for dynamic impedance tuning via μc variation, contributes to a substantial improvement in operational bandwidth and provides effective frequency tunability across the THz range. Moreover, the extended surface-current path introduced by the dumbbell-shaped slot increases the equivalent inductance, which results in a 10.5% size reduction compared to a conventional slot antenna, achieving compact dimensions of 0.438λ₀ × 0.438λ₀ × 0.014λ₀. Based on the obtained results, this structure could serve as a promising alternative for replacing conventional antennas in 6G terahertz networks.
