چکیده :
In sub-transmission networks, stitched parallel lines—double-circuit transmission configurations interconnected at both terminals—provide enhanced operational flexibility but introduce substantial challenges for protection and control. During single-line-to-ground (SLG) faults, strong electromagnetic coupling between the circuits together with the lack of separate measurement of fault current for each circuit, complicates impedance estimation by the protective relay. These complexities may result in relay maloperations and delayed tripping, ultimately compromising system dependability and operational stability. This paper presents a distance-protection setting specifically designed for stitched-line configurations. The proposed method introduces a refined zero-sequence compensation factor (K₀) that effectively mitigates the adverse effects of mutual coupling and high fault resistance, leading to marked improvements in relay sensitivity, selectivity, and coordination—particularly within dual-source network conditions. Comprehensive simulation studies verify that, compared with the existing recommended settings, the proposed approach significantly enhances both the accuracy and operating speed of distance relays under SLG fault scenarios. Overall, the findings represent a technically robust and practically viable advancement toward more secure protection of interconnected sub-transmission systems.
