چکیده :
Optical phased arrays (OPAs) have emerged as a promising platform for solid state beam steering in integrated LiDAR systems, offering stability, scalability, and compatibility with silicon photonics. However, conventional single mode OPA designs remain limited in steering range, restricting their applicability in wide Field of View (FoV) automotive LiDAR. This work presents the design and simulation of a multimode optical phased array architecture implemented on a silicon on insulator (SoI) platform. The system integrates key photonic components, including multimode interference power splitters, optical couplers, graphene based switches, mode converters, thermo optic phase shifters, and grating antennas. Each device is optimized to achieve low insertion loss, compact footprint, and fabrication tolerance, while multimode excitation is employed to extend the longitudinal steering dimension.
